It was such a pleasure to photograph sweet baby Grayson a couple of weeks ago. I also had the privilege of capturing mom and dad’s pregnancy at one of my new favorite outdoorsy locations here in San Diego. It’s so fun to meet the parents-to-be and feel their excitement and anticipation during the maternity session, then to see that love and joy when baby arrives… I love my job
Here are a few from baby G’s session, and a few from mom and dad’s mini-maternity session…
Meet newborn babies Brian, David and Nicholas – San Diego’s newest set of adorable triplets! I am so excited to share their session with you all.
When mom inquired about a session for her three almost-7 week old newborns, I was super excited but knowing that they were already several weeks old, we needed to schedule a session sooner rather than later. So we did, and planned for just a few days later. Brian, David and Nicholas were in the NICU for their first five weeks of life. I responded to mom’s email and excitedly envisioned three tiny babies with matching hats and matching blankets, and my awesome visions danced around in my head – I was full of ideas, until I realized I didn’t have any matching boy hats, and there was no way that I would be able to find some ready to ship on Etsy, so I was in a panic – where would I find them in just 3 days! Well, luckily I have the most awesome of mail ladies right here in town – she’s the one who ships out all of my client orders, and she knits! I ran down to the mail place and asked if she would be able to make a few, and she happily agreed! So not only were they made in two days time, but she made two beautiful sets of them with matching blankets and they were SO much cooler than I envisioned – wohoo!! By the way, I didn’t just choose blue, red and green for fun – mom and dad have babies color coded in those colors to tell them apart those first few weeks
I brought my friend and fellow photographer, Melanie along for the fun – she is a rock star assistant! No, I mean she rocks, she is not affiliated with any rock bands (that I know of, lol). When we arrived, we immediately went to work, getting ‘stations’ set up for the babies. We set up the ‘prop’ area downstairs, and the ‘beanbag’ area upstairs, so that we would be able to photograph these cuties more efficiently – we knew that one would be sleeping when the others would not, and we needed to be ready for the chance of all three boys sleeping at the same time so we could get the ‘together’ shots.
Our session went great, and I am so pleased with what we captured. These beautiful boys are going to grow up so quickly, so capturing their tiny cuteness at just a few weeks old makes me super happy How awesome is it that Brian, David and Nicholas will grow up to be best buddies and will always have someone to play with!
I love photographing newborn babies, I really do! Each newborn session for me is so exciting, as I walk into the homes of brand new parents who are just beaming with love and excitement for their new little one, and are so excited for our newborn portrait session. I always thought it would be great for expectant mommies searching for a newborn photographer to see what a typical session looks like. I put this video together just for you, mom and dad to be! I love photographing babies, and hope that this ‘behind the scenes’ peek at a typical newborn session will help give you an idea of what to expect for our session.
I work in the comfort of your own home, and our sessions last approximately 3 hours, and allow for a fun, casual and relaxed time, which allows for plenty of stress-free nursing/feeding, cuddling and prop/set changes. I love capturing a variety of sweet posed sleepy newborn shots as well as more candid interaction with mom, dad, a sibling – just capturing those precious moments. Newborns are photographed within the first 10 days of life, as they are still quite sleepy and bendy at that age for poses that mimic those inside the womb. So many moms and dads tell me how happy they are that I came to them, because in those first few days of having your newborn home, things are crazy hectic. As you can see in the video, I don’t need a lot of space – just an area near a window. I bring everything with me, and take special requests as to which props you want for me to bring along. I am constantly finding new props, blankets and hats for our sessions. Thank you so much for taking the time to read about Sophie Crew Photography!
You may remember baby Darla’s gorgeous mama and dad from this maternity session. Well, sweet Darla was born just a few weeks ago and I had the pleasure of meeting her at just a few days old. She was such a sweetie and I had a great time spending the morning with Baby D, mommy and her auntie. Not only did I enjoy our time together, but to make things even more awesome, mama R had prepared the most beautiful plate of YUMMMMMMY Baklava for me to bring home. Thank you allowing me the opportunity to photograph sweet Darla, T family!
I had the pleasure of photographing this sweet little love last month when she was just a few days old. I know I have said it before, but what I love about newborn sessions is seeing the excitement and new overwhelming love that parents have for their new little bundle. A and E were no exception – I loved seeing mom and dad handle her with such love and care, tending to her ever so lovingly – it really put a big smile in my heart Here are a few shots from little Ava’s session… PS: her nursery was SO cute – mom painted those beautiful and colorful letters!
I hope everyone had a Merry Christmas! I just wanted to share one quick sneak peek for this little cutie bug’s parents from this morning. I can’t wait to share more from this session It was great to meet you guys
Meet sweet little Luna. I had the pleasure of photographing this little bundle of cuteness last month (yes, I am finally catching up on blogging now that I am on ‘vacation’). She is such a beautiful and delicate little thing – it was so fun photographing her! Here are a few of my favorites from our session…
I am so excited to share this blog post with you… I am sure you have all seen the gorgeous mama-to-be on the header of my blog… well, her little guy arrived last month, and it was an honor to be able to photograph him in his first few weeks of life. I have been photographing this beautiful family for almost two years – baby T’s big sister S was just two when we had our first session. Now she’s a big sister, ready to show her little bro all the tricks of the trade. It makes me so happy to see this family add another baby that will be loved so much to their crew. Congrats, S family, and hey little T: easy on the colic for mama, ok?
I am a bit overdue with this sweetie’s blog post. Meet little N – such a tiny sweet little one. Her parents are remodeling their home before moving in so we held the session in their empty home, which was cool because I was able to sprawl out allllllll over the room. I had props, blankets, etc all over the place, lol. I always like to take baby outside if possible to take some shots in ‘nature’ – which is usually in the back yard, but scored big time when we found this area just a few steps away from their front door. It was a bit too cold to have little N do the ‘naked baby in nature’ pose, but I think this turned out just as cute. Most of all, I had an absolutely wondeful time getting to know N’s parents, who are so excited and in love with their new little girl!
I hope you all had a great Thanksgiving weekend! Things have been so crazy these past few weeks – ask any photographer and they’ll tell you that this is the busiest time of year – no kidding! I have been having a blast photographing newborns, gorgeous families and adorable kiddos… and neglecting the blog – eek! Lots of posts to follow as things calm down in the next few weeks – promise
This sweet adorable little A had her newborn session a few weeks ago and I am just now getting it on the blog – I couldn’t forget little A! At just a few days shy of the big ‘two week feeding frenzy’, Miss A was a perfect angel and a hungry little one too! We paused quite a few times for ‘lunch breaks’ as she ate, then ate more, then ate again, lol. It was worth the wait though – look at that little face! Love!
We had a totally fun session, hanging out in A’s gorgeous nursery (with awesome light) and listening to Jack Johnson while we snapped away. Thanks for a great session, S family!
